Glendale Ridge Farms is a fiber farm where livestock animals are raised for their hair - or fiber - that is then sheared and used to make many different types of products from raw fleece to roving to yarn to finished products such as sweaters, gloves, hats, rugs etc.
Our farm is currently open to visitors Friday - Sunday by appointment only.
We have 4 different types of fiber animals: Alpacas, Colored Angora goats, Gotland sheep and Valais Blacknose sheep. We also have other types of goats, as well as chickens (you can't have a farm without chickens), donkeys and livestock guardian dogs (LGDs) - Great Pyrenees and Maremma Sheepdogs.
Yes, we offer farm visits, currently by appointment only. Tours are approximately 45 min - 1 hour with minimal to more strenuous walking depending on how far you want to walk. Appointment times vary based on the time of year. Summer farm visits are offered Friday & Saturdays 10am & 11:30am, and Sundays 1pm.
Farm visits are $15 / person. Children under 3 are free.
In addition to touring the farms and seeing the animals, we will also offer options to interact with them by petting or feeding them and taking photos. Eventually we plan to offer different types of classes where you can learn how to process and create with the fiber produced by these amazing animals.
Yes we will have products for sell that come directly from the animals on our farm as well as other locally and internationally produced products. You can take home a product made from one of the animals you meet on the farm.
There is plenty of space to stretch your legs and walk around the farm and see each of the fields with our charming animals.
The main barn and parking area is handicap accessible . Parking area is a gravel lot, main barn has a concrete floor. Just outside the barn are flat, grassy areas that are fairly easy to navigate with a wheelchair.
Yes, we welcome school groups. At this time, we can accommodate up to 25 students plus teachers/chaperones.
At this time our primary focus is on the educational and interactive experiences with our fiber animals. However, we will consider special event requests for fewer than 50 people. Please email or call us to discuss options and pricing.
We are only able to accommodate certified Service animals at this time. Please do not bring your pets to the farm. They will not be able to get out of the car as we have livestock guardian dogs guarding our animals at all times. New/strange animals will put them on alert which can create anxiety for our farm family.
We have Bare Creek Cottage located less than a minute from our farm that can be rented via Air B&B.
